Tonight was the last night of rugby training. One more early Saturday game and then we can reclaim our Friday nights. A few of us organised to stay behind after training and support the club in a few drinks (as you do). A great many plans were made (as they are). The first plan is a big get together of all interested rugby families on September 13 to watch the last Tri-Nations match. Connor has found his old All Blacks try scoring flag so we can wave it wildly. All other plans are to follow. lol
We have been having family email discussions of late commenting on the usage of fish names. This brought back some happy summer holiday memories for the kids and I. Hence the layout attached. Once again, please click on the pic of the layout to enlarge and you can read the journalling.
P.s Chris, we really don't think you killed the fish :)

Book Week
Presenting Indiana Jones and Clarice Bean.
It is Book Week at the kids school this week and today the kids all had the option to dress up as a book character. The kids all have a fun day and just before lunch the whole school gets together and does a big parade. The teachers get invovled too and it can be quite fun to work out who some of them are.
Connor simply loves Indiana Jones and as he had the hat we had to ome up with the rest. My younger brother Chris might recognise the jacket as he used to wear it when he was little (good old Pumpkin Patch). My mum would have been proud of me. Most of my friends know I don't actually do anything in the way of fixing things sewing, but for Connor's costume I outdid myself. Take a good look at Connor's bag everyone. I HAND SEWED that without a pattern too. Took me for ever but my family is very proud of me and Connor just loves it.
Eilish decided to dress up as a character that she really enjoys called Clarice Bean. The books are a bit young for her now but she often enjoys revisiting them. Thanks to 'Nan at the Beachhouse' for buying the first book.
The photos are a bit grainy as we were in the wrong light but suddenly remembered to get out the camera as we were heading out the door.
Eilish won't be happy that I have posted the last pic but my thinking is that if you ask to pose for a silly pic expect it to turn up somewhere. Leave us some comments please.
P.S you may have noticed that I have a link to Eilish's blog. This is a blog she is doing at school and for that reason she is not allowed to post pictures of people on it. We are working around it by doing some intro scrap pages with pics of other stuff. If you visit it please leave her a comment. She will be chuffed.

A quiet moment
Gary is off sailing for the day and I am about to take the kids for a walk into town. Eilish has been invited to a friends circus party and we need to find a present. I hope it doesn't take too long.
While letting the kids have a bit of a sleep in I have been busy working on Eilish's invitation for her birthday. I have deleted certain information for privacy but you get the general idea. Click on the picture to enlarge it and read the quote. Eilish and I both loved it and thought it relevant to her.

Sun at last!
Isn't it great when you get a sunny day in the middle of winter. I don't know about you but I always feel like putting on a pair of shorts and heading for the beach. Til I get outside that is. Brrrrr. Still, its nice to see the sun and I am sure it is a sign of warm days to come.
The Pete Murray concert was great though I now remember why the lead in acts are the lead in acts and not touring in their own right. The first offering was a mix between Amy Winehouse and the monster from the deep I think. I had also forgotten just how loud they have the bass at live concerts. Yeah man, I could really feel the music, if you know what I mean. Otherwise, a very good night, finished off with a liqueur coffee and choccy dessert.
I have had fun playing around with my new layout of Scott and Connor. These pics were taken by Diane just as we were about to hop in the car and make our way to Wellington airport. I think Scott is a lot more comfortable posing for the camera than my son.

Rugby Morning
Hi everyone. The McCarty family is up early in the weekend for a change. Connor has a rugby game that is a fair distance to travel to. We are hoping they put him up to the under 12s next year as the games start a bit later. Aren't we selfish :)
Often on a Sunday we gather up the family and take a walk into town to explore new places. The pics in this layout are just in front of the Festival Centre on King William Road/Street. Gary walks this way to work every day. The kids had great fun hopping from concrete block to concrete block. As you can see I even got them to pose for me.
We were talking the other day and realised that Eilishs birthday is creeping up on us and she has big plans for this one. I just have to come up with some ideas to keep 10-12 nearly 13 year old girls entertained for a few hours. Any thoughts?
It is the Pete Murray concert tonight and we have organised a friends daughter to babysit. Should be a good night. I know Gary is looking forward to the guitar playing. I think that boy has guitars on the brain. He has been trying to play the 'so-called' dreaded F chord. I think I know why they call it the 'F' chord.
Better go and take the boy to rugby.

Comp working - sort of.

Gary has half finished with my computer so I am taking the opportunity to post this page before he does things with it again tonight.
Garys work was involved in the WaterAid Australia Gala Dinner 2008. This is a black tie affair where people all basically go to schmooze (is that a word?). Someone from his work was unable to make it and there were free tickets up for grabs. Who are we to look a 'ticket-horse' in the mouth? A quick ring around, after all the event was in two days time, I managed to farm the kids out. Now I just needed to sort out something to wear.
It was a good night out, half the fun was looking at what everyone else was wearing. There must have been some very cold ladies that night.

Bad Blogger
I meant to post this earlier but took the opportunity to go out for a catch up with friends. We found a nice place on Grange Road to try. I think we will have to do a return visit for brekky one day.
I have returned to the world of the living. Its not really my fault. If only people would stop writing good books. I ordered a book from the States a couple of weeks ago and it turned up the week before last. It is the third in the series and as I hadn't read the others for some time I just had to reread them first. To refresh my memory so to speak. Well all three books are now finished, Yipee, and I can start doing some real things. Like shopping for food and perhaps cooking a meal for the family.
Last Friday we had some weird weather and I just had to take some pics to prove to all you folk in NZ that it does get cold here. It wasn't exactly freezing but out of nowhere a huge hail storm came. Before I knew it the entire road outside our place was white with hail. Then a really bright flash of light followed by the most enormous clap of thunder. The vibrations set off all the car alarms in our street. We had a very concentrated area of hail in our courtyard. I tried to make a mini snowman out of it for you all but the stuff just wouldn't hold together. (I must have too much spare time on my hands at the moment)
I am posting this from Garys computer tonight as he trying to remove some programs from mine to hopefully make it run faster. I have a new layout to post but it will have to wait til my little laptop is up and running again. I have everything crossed that it won't be long. lol
