Saturday-We were the first of the four families to arrive and were suitably impressed with our weekend abode. The house sat right next to the waters edge surrounded by beautiful gardens. A fantastic place to kick back and relax.
By the time all the families had rocked up I thinkwe had almost as many boxes of beer and wine as we did food. Perhaps it was going to turn more into a game of survivor rather than a relaxing weekend away.
On the first night the kids all decided that they were going to sleep in the same room, 6 kids, 4 beds, 1 very small room = ????????????? It was their holiday too so the walking space became extra sleeping space. One of the boys brought up his Nintendo Wii and in the evening the band jam sessions started. I have a few pics of some very intent looking boys rocking to ACDC.
While the kids rocked on downstairs the adults dished out the cards and the drinks. The evening became loud and we all found a lot to laugh about. At one stage, one of the guys was christened with a new nickname, Foxy.
Four hours sleep later it was time to start the new day (yawn).
Sunday-
We are trying to introduce Australians to the complexities of pancakes, bacon, bananas and maple syrup. They are heathens here and do not recognise something good even when it jumps up and spills maple syrup all over them. Needless to say the kiwis had plenty.
A day of walks, exploring playgrounds and eating we then withdrew to the house in search of more restful pursuits. A frenzy of painting was sparked off by the 3 year old and all of the kids rediscovered their kindy days. We now have a lot of butterflies around the place.
Before we knew it 4pm had come round and it was happy hour. As you can see we had a theme weekend going. Though I do have to say some of our players did start their happy hour at morning tea time.
Cards became the game of choice for the evening again though this was soon voted out in favour of Pictionary. However, after everyone started saying my partner and I were cheating (yes we were winning, by a lot) it was changed back to cards. There seems to be a conspiracy over me winning at Pictionary.
An earlier night and in bed by 1.30am.
Monday-
A slow start with people doing their own things. I finally remembered to take a pic of a Paddle steamer making its way along the Murray.

I think Eilish and her friend Amy may have been taking French lessons a bit far but the pic is cute.
Actually it is just a rubber frog and Eilish now uses the pic for her MSN icon.
Well life here has been hectic to say the least. I am currently sitting on the floor in the lounge surrounded by a mountain of boxes typing this update before I lose my internet for who knows how long. Moving sucks.
We had a lovely Easter away camping with old and new friends only marred by poor old me coming down with a bout of gastro just as we were packing up to leave. I didn't have time to be sick at the moment as the packers were due to arrive today. Unfortunately my body disagreed and I took up a new acquaintance with the bathroom. Luckily Gary was able to take yesterday off and do all the pre moving jobs that I usually do. I sat in a chair, said sorry a lot and generally fell asleep at the drop of a hat.
Feeling much better today, thank goodness. The guys rock up at 8am to begin packing and once again we start disappearing into boxes. A bit later I received a text from Gary asking if I could fish his work pass key out of his suit pocket as he had left it behind. To late! Its packed! At least it is not the cheque book like last time. Very hard to pay the moving company when they have packed your cheque book, lol.
Now just back from a rugby club meeting and I am telling myself I have to learn how to say no. As I have mentioned previously I keep the club web site updated, a title of WebMistress has (affectionately?) been bestowed upon me. Now it seems as though I am on the Sponsorship sub committee. What do I know about sponsorship? Another large learning curve I am thinking. Gary has just cracked up and called out sucker. I don't need a lollipop, I need help.

This photo was taken way back in January 2002 when Rox came to stay with us for some of the school holidays. I had scanned these pics with the thought of scrapping them eventually. So, of course I had to scrap them now. My new layout is below but first, to pass the challenge on.
My contacts in the digiscrapping community are fairly limited so I decided to look around and the first site I stopped off at had the same thoughts as me. Blog Hopping!
So here I go. . .
Pamela - Blog Hopping rocks
Lindsay Jane -wow, when you blog hop you find other people who live just round the corner from you.
Mo - my good friend who always has a camera attached to her face.
Lou - for her tour of Derbyshire
Nicole - a new blog hopping discovery. Your collaborations rock.
Bethany - I know you love to take pics (when you remember your camera, lol) and thanks for the great WA I have used in my latest layout.
I think that is everyone.
Now I can post my newest layout if you are all still with me.
Remember, you can click on this image to enlarge it and see the pics. The kids are quite cute.

Will update tomorrow on our goings on.Unfortunately someone pulled the plug.
What an eyesore!
The Adelaide City Council is beside itself. The river Torrens is a big part of the scenic look of Adelaide city and now it is just sludge. There is talk of mechanical malfunctions of the weir gate and hints of possible vandalism. I am not too sure if the true reason has been unearthed yet but I sure do know it is gonna stink as the weather heats up.
For now it is Adelaide's newest tourist destination. I swear I haven't seen so many people rubber necking as they walk or drive past ( me included heh heh ).
Now, I am alive but have elsewhere occupied. I have been working furiously on the rugby club website http://www.vikingssa.rugbynet.com.au/, take a look if you feel like it but also just generally feeling uncreative. I had a small problem with my eye which has now resolved itself but looking at computers was not too comfortable at the time. So onward to sit at my comp.
Eilish has settled in wonderfully to High School life and has even been known to walk home on the occasional non boiling hot day. Tomorrow she is off to West Lakes to try out for the school rowing team. Normally training and trials would be on the river Torrens but, ITS NOT THERE! The good thing about junior high school rowing is that it is in the afternoons. That whole horrible 5.30 in the morning thing doesn't start til they are a senior at the school. will update again on Eilish's thoughts.
Rugby training starts on Thursday night though I have a committee meeting on Wednesday night first. Nippers goes til the end of March so there will be a double up for a while but hopefully no clashes.
Time to go, book and coffee calling.
The river Torrens, with Elder Park to the left.
